In 1990 the South Carolina Youth Advocate Program, SCYAP, was created with a mission in mind. We wanted to provide safe homes and nurturing families to children that had been abused and neglected throughout our state. We knew that we could do it, but not without the help of the community and individuals willing to provide these homes.

At SCYAP there are two different programs that use and need foster parents:  Therapeutic Foster Care and the Resource Family Program.  

It can get a little confusing to try to figure out the difference between these two programs, but they are in fact very different programs and the requirements and expectations of the foster parents that serve in each are also different.
